# AI setup for new channels

> When you connect a new Kick channel, KickBot's AI setup reads your public Kick profile and suggests chat commands, timed messages and features for you to check.

Source: https://kickbot.com/docs/getting-started/ai-setup

The AI setup ("Set up your channel") is an optional step at the end of sign up. KickBot reads your public Kick profile and the links in it, then suggests up to 5 chat commands, up to 3 timed messages and 5 features to turn on. You check and change each step before anything is saved. It usually takes 15 to 30 seconds.

## When you see it

The AI setup is offered to new channels during sign up, right after you [add KickBot as a moderator](https://kickbot.com/docs/getting-started/add-kickbot-as-moderator). If you skipped it, you can set up everything by hand in the dashboard.

## What KickBot reads

KickBot reads public information only:

- Your Kick profile, the panels under your stream, your chat rules and your pinned message.
- Link pages and websites that your Kick profile links to, such as a Linktree page or your YouTube channel.

While it reads, the popup lists what it finds, for example "Found Discord server" or "Found your schedule". KickBot leaves out private details such as your age or where you live.

To stop, click **Skip setup**. You go to the dashboard and nothing is saved.

## Step 1: Commands

KickBot suggests up to 5 [custom commands](https://kickbot.com/docs/chat-bot/custom-commands), for example `!discord`, `!socials`, `!rules` or `!schedule`. Each row has the command name and the text that KickBot posts in chat.

- Click any text to change it.
- Click the **X** to remove a command.
- Click **Add a command** to add your own (up to 5 in total).
- Click the save button (for example **Save 4 commands**) to keep them, or **Skip** to keep none.

Command names can use letters, numbers and `_`, up to 20 characters. They cannot use a name that is already taken, such as `!clip` or a [built-in command](https://kickbot.com/docs/chat-bot/built-in-commands) like `!followage`. Replies can be up to 500 characters. Saved commands are on, everyone in chat can use them, and they have no cooldown. You can change that later on the Custom commands page.

## Step 2: Timed messages

KickBot suggests up to 3 [timed messages](https://kickbot.com/docs/chat-bot/timed-messages). KickBot posts them in chat on a timer, when enough new chat messages have come in. For each message you can set:

- **Send every**: 5 to 180 minutes, in steps of 5.
- **Chat messages between**: 1 to 30. KickBot waits for this many chat messages before it posts again.

Edit, remove or add messages the same way as commands. Then click **Save** or **Skip**.

## Step 3: Features

The last step lists 5 features. All are on when the step opens:

| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Chat alerts | Posts a message in chat for new followers, subs and gifted subs. See [chat alerts](https://kickbot.com/docs/alerts/chat-alerts). |
| Text-to-speech | Viewers send messages that play on stream. See [set up TTS](https://kickbot.com/docs/tts/set-up-tts). |
| Clip command | Viewers type `!clip` to save a clip. See [clip command](https://kickbot.com/docs/chat-bot/clip-command). |
| AI character | KickBot answers when viewers talk to it. See [AI character](https://kickbot.com/docs/ai/ai-character). |
| AI images | Viewers type `!imagine` to make a picture. See [AI images](https://kickbot.com/docs/ai/ai-images). |

Turn off what you do not want, then click **Save and finish**. Each feature is saved as on or off, as you set it. If you click **Skip**, KickBot does not change these features.

> **Note:** Text-to-speech also needs the TTS widget in OBS so that messages play on stream. See [add a browser source to OBS](https://kickbot.com/docs/getting-started/add-browser-source-obs).

## When it is done

The last screen shows what was saved: the number of commands and timed messages, and how many features are on. It also suggests a command to try in chat when you go live. Click **Go to dashboard** to finish.

If the AI setup cannot finish, you see "Auto setup did not work this time". Nothing is lost. Add commands and timed messages in the dashboard instead.

## FAQ

**Does the AI setup cost anything?**

No. It is free. It stays inside the Free plan limits: up to 5 commands and 3 timed messages.

**Can I run the AI setup again?**

No. It shows only during sign up, for new channels. You can add and change commands and timed messages at any time in the dashboard.

**Is anything posted in my chat before I save?**

No. KickBot saves each step only when you click **Save**. Nothing is saved for a step that you skip.

**Why did KickBot suggest only a few commands?**

KickBot can only use what is public on your Kick profile. If your profile has no panels or links, it has little to work with. Add your links to your Kick profile, or add commands by hand.
