The biggest difference between Kick and Twitch for a streamer is money. On Kick, you keep 95% of subscription and KICKs revenue, and Kick Partners also earn per stream based on their audience. On Twitch, the standard subscription split is 50/50, with higher shares for streamers in its Plus Program. Both platforms let you start streaming for free.

This page compares the two with facts from each platform's own pages. Both platforms change their programs often. Check the linked sources before you decide.

## Money

### Subscriptions and tips

Kick's [revenue split page](https://help.kick.com/en/articles/15159722-understanding-kick-s-revenue-split) says the 95/5 split applies to subscriptions and to KICKs, Kick's tipping currency. Subs cost a flat $5 a month, so each sub pays you $4.75 before tax.

On Twitch, the standard subscription revenue share is 50/50. In 2024, Twitch expanded its Plus Program with two levels: 60/40 and 70/30, based on Plus Points. The 70/30 level needs 300 Plus Points ([Twitch blog](https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2024/01/24/an-update-to-several-streamer-payout-programs/)).

### Pay per stream on Kick

The Kick Partner Program pays you for each stream. Kick calculates the rate over a rolling window of your recent streams, from your average audience and content factors such as language and region. Kick does not publish the formula ([How we calculate KPP rates](https://help.kick.com/en/articles/17225591-how-we-calculate-kpp-rates)). Entry needs a verified channel and, in the past 30 days, an average of 75 concurrent viewers, 30 hours streamed, 25 active subs, 250 unique chatters and 250 followers. The full list is in [Kick streaming requirements](https://kickbot.com/guides/start/kick-streaming-requirements).

### When you can start to earn

On Kick, subscriptions open after 5 hours of streaming in total, according to Kick's help center. You also need a Stripe account in a supported country.

On Twitch, Affiliate status is how most streamers start to earn. In 2026, Twitch lowered the Affiliate criteria to 25 followers, 4 hours streamed, 4 streaming days and at least 3 average concurrent viewers on 4 different days. Twitch also made subs, Bits, emotes, badges and Channel Points available to eligible streamers before Affiliate, but a payout still needs Affiliate or Partner status ([Twitch blog](https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2026/05/13/monetization-for-all/)).

## Multistreaming

You do not have to pick only one. Both platforms allow you to stream to other services at the same time, with rules:

- **Kick.** You can multistream to any platform. If you are in the Kick Partner Program, turn on the **Multistreaming** toggle in your dashboard or type `/multi on` in chat. Your Partner payout is reduced by 50% for that session. Kick says the toggle is needed for long-form platforms such as Twitch and YouTube, and not for short-form ones such as TikTok Live or Instagram Live. Kick lists the Multistreaming toggle as a channel owner permission that moderators do not have ([How to moderate your Kick chat](https://help.kick.com/en/articles/7109164-how-to-moderate-your-kick-chat)).
- **Twitch.** Twitch's terms allow simulcasting when the Twitch experience is at least as good as on other platforms, you do not send Twitch viewers to the other platform, and you do not merge chat from other platforms into your Twitch stream.

Tools like Streamlabs Desktop can send one stream to both. See [Streamlabs and Kick](https://kickbot.com/guides/setup/streamlabs-and-kick).

## Stream quality

Kick accepts up to 1080p at 60 fps and 8,000 kbps, H.264 only, with constant bitrate. Smaller Kick channels may show viewers only up to 720p60 at first, until the channel reaches an engagement threshold ([Kick help center](https://help.kick.com/en/articles/15638073-why-1080p-may-not-be-available-on-your-channel)). Twitch publishes its own limits and encoder options in its Broadcasting Guidelines. If you stream to both at once, use settings that are inside both sets of limits.

## Which one should you choose?

There is no single right answer. Think about these questions:

- **Where is your audience?** If your viewers or your community already watch on one platform, that counts for more than the split.
- **How do you plan to earn?** If subs and tips are your main income, Kick's 95% share makes a big difference per sub. If you can reach the Kick Partner Program, the pay per stream adds to that.
- **How will people find you?** Look at your category on both platforms: how many streams are live, and how many viewers they have. Test it with your own content.
- **Do you want both?** Read the multistream rules above. Kick Partners earn less while they multistream.

## Tools for Kick streamers

Most streaming tools, including OBS and Streamlabs, work with both platforms. Bots and overlays are often platform-specific. [KickBot](https://kickbot.com) is built only for Kick: chat commands, timed messages, alerts, a chat overlay, TTS and a tip page. If you move to Kick or start there, [Set up a chat bot on Kick](https://kickbot.com/guides/setup/kick-chat-bot-setup) is a good next step. ## FAQ

**Does Kick pay more than Twitch?**

For subscriptions, yes: Kick keeps a 5% processing fee and you get 95%, while Twitch's standard split is 50/50 (up to 70/30 in its Plus Program). Total income also depends on your audience size, Kick Partner Program pay, ads, sponsors and tips outside the platform.

**Can I stream on Kick and Twitch at the same time?**

Yes, both allow it with rules. Kick Partners must turn on the Multistreaming toggle and earn 50% of their usual Partner income during that session. Twitch asks that Twitch viewers get an experience at least as good as viewers elsewhere.

**Is it easier to get monetized on Kick or Twitch?**

At the time of writing, Kick says subs open after 5 hours of streaming in total. Twitch Affiliate needs 25 followers, 4 hours on 4 days, and at least 3 average viewers. The Kick Partner Program, which pays per stream, has much higher requirements.
