How to set up TTS on Kick
TTS (text-to-speech) on Kick means a computer voice reads viewer messages out loud on your stream. A viewer types a command such as !brian with a message, sends a tip with a message, or just chats, and a TTS tool plays the voice through a browser source in OBS. Kick’s help center does not describe a built-in TTS feature at the time of writing (October 2026), so streamers add TTS with a third-party tool such as KickBot.
This guide explains how TTS works, what to decide before you turn it on, and how to set it up with KickBot.
How TTS works on Kick
Section titled “How TTS works on Kick”- A viewer sends a message that should be read. It can be a chat command, a tip, or any chat message if you read all of chat.
- The TTS tool checks the message against your rules: who can use it, cooldowns, length and filters.
- The tool turns the text into speech with the voice the viewer picked.
- The audio plays in a Browser source in OBS, so it goes out on your stream. Some tools can also show the text on screen.
Because the sound comes from OBS, TTS only plays while OBS has the browser source loaded. It does not play in the Kick app or on a phone stream without a browser source.
Decide how viewers can use TTS
Section titled “Decide how viewers can use TTS”| Way to trigger | Good for | Things to think about |
|---|---|---|
Chat command, for example !brian hello chat | Fun, active chats | Limit who can use it (subs, VIPs) and add a cooldown |
| Tips with a message | Rewarding supporters | Only paid messages are read, so there is much less spam |
| Read all chat (auto read) | Small chats, streamers who do not look at chat | Needs good filters. Gets noisy fast in a busy chat |
Many streamers start with commands for subs and VIPs only, plus TTS on tips, and open it up later.
Set up TTS with KickBot
Section titled “Set up TTS with KickBot”You need a KickBot account with your Kick channel connected.
1. Add voices
Section titled “1. Add voices”- Open My voices.
- Turn on the voices you want. Each voice has its own chat command, for example
!brian. - For each voice, choose who can use it: everyone, subs, VIPs or mods.
The free voices are Male, Female, Brian and TikTok. Premium adds the Voice library with 3,000+ voices and voice cloning. See Voices for every setting.
2. Add the TTS browser source to OBS
Section titled “2. Add the TTS browser source to OBS”- Open TTS settings and copy the link under Browser source for OBS.
- In OBS, under Sources, click + and choose Browser.
- Paste the link into URL.
- Turn on Control audio via OBS, so TTS gets its own volume slider in the Audio Mixer.
- Click OK. Add the source to every scene where TTS should play.
Keep the link private. KickBot warns that anyone with the link can play sounds on your stream. The full steps, with the on-screen text style, are in Set up TTS.
3. Set the limits
Section titled “3. Set the limits”On the same page, set the rules for your chat:
- Longest message: up to 300 characters. Longer messages are not read.
- Per-viewer cooldown and Global cooldown: 0 to 120 seconds each.
- Wait between messages: 0 to 30 seconds.
- Read the sender’s name and Show the message on stream: turn on if you want them.
4. Turn on moderation
Section titled “4. Turn on moderation”Open TTS moderation. Turn on the filters and the AI content filters (for example for sexual content, hate and harassment). Blocked messages show in a live list, so you can see what was stopped. See TTS moderation.
5. Test it
Section titled “5. Test it”Go live, keep OBS open, and send a message with a voice command from a second account, for example !brian testing one two. You should hear it on stream. If you hear nothing, see Troubleshooting below.
Control TTS while you are live
Section titled “Control TTS while you are live”You and your moderators can control TTS from chat:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
!ttsoff / !ttson | Turn TTS off or on. Messages already in the queue still play after !ttsoff. |
!ttsskip | Stop the message that is playing now. |
!ttsclear | Clear the queue. |
!ttsvol | Change the volume. |
!ttsdelay | Change the wait between messages, in seconds. |
Viewers can type !voices to open your public voice list. It shows which voices they can use. See TTS chat commands.
Other ways to read messages
Section titled “Other ways to read messages”- Auto read. KickBot can read chat aloud without a command, with filters for links, emotes and bots. See Auto read.
- TTS on tips. With a KickBot tip page, each tip message is read out loud through the tip alert browser source. See Tip alerts.
Keep TTS fun and safe
Section titled “Keep TTS fun and safe”- Start strict and relax later. It is easier to open TTS to everyone than to clean up after a raid.
- Use a cooldown. A per-viewer cooldown of a minute stops one person from taking over.
- Keep a moderator ready with
!ttsskip. - Read Kick’s Community Guidelines. You are responsible for what plays on your stream, including TTS.
- Voice clones need permission from the person whose voice it is.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Nothing plays. Check that the browser source is in the current scene and not hidden, and that Read messages on stream is on in TTS settings. Open the browser source properties and click Refresh cache of current page.
It plays on my computer, but viewers cannot hear it. Turn on Control audio via OBS in the browser source and check that the TTS slider in the Audio Mixer is not muted.
Viewers type the command but nothing happens. Check that the voice is on, that the viewer has the right role, and that the cooldown has passed. Messages longer than your limit are not read.
Messages are blocked. Look at the blocked messages list on the TTS moderation page to see which filter stopped them.
