KickBot is not working

Most problems have one of a few causes. Start with the section that matches what you see. Each section links to the full page for that feature.

This covers commands, timed messages, chat alerts, !clip, AI character replies and TTS chat replies.

  1. Make KickBot a moderator. This is the most common cause. Type /mod KickBot in your Kick chat. See Add KickBot as a moderator.
  2. Check that the feature is on. Each command, timed message and alert has its own switch in the dashboard.
  3. Check who can use it. A command for subscribers only does not answer other viewers. Test from your own channel account.
  4. Wait for the cooldown. A command does not answer again until its cooldown ends.
  5. Check the right channel. If you manage more than one channel, the channel switcher at the top left of the dashboard shows which channel you are changing. See Manage more than one channel.

Feature pages with more fixes: custom commands, timed messages, chat alerts.

  1. Copy the URL again. Open the widget in the dashboard and use its Copy URL button. A URL with a missing part shows nothing.
  2. Refresh the source. In OBS, right-click the browser source, open Properties and click Refresh cache of current page.
  3. Check the size. Use the width and height from the widget’s page, for example 800 by 600 for the chat overlay. A source that is too small can cut the widget off.
  4. Wait for an event. Alert widgets stay empty until something happens. Use the test buttons in the dashboard to check them.

See Add a KickBot overlay to OBS for the full steps.

  1. Turn on TTS. Read messages on stream must be on in TTS settings.
  2. Turn on a voice. At least one voice must be on in My voices, and the viewer must be allowed to use it.
  3. Let OBS play the audio. In the browser source properties, turn on Control audio via OBS, then check that the source is not muted in the audio mixer.
  4. Check the filters. A message can be blocked by TTS moderation, or be longer than the limit you set.
  1. Use a current alert widget. On-screen alerts come from the widget library. See On-screen alerts.
  2. Test the widget. Use the test buttons on the widget in Saved widgets. Test events show only in the preview there, not in OBS. If the preview works, the widget settings are correct.
  3. Check your Kick connection. If tests work but real follows and subs do not, check that your Kick channel is still connected in account settings.

See the tip queue: a tip can wait for approval, or the queue can be paused. The tip alert widget must be in OBS for tips to show on stream.

Write to support@kickbot.com or ask in the #support channel on Discord. Tell us your Kick channel name, the feature, and what you tried. A screenshot helps.
